Mark Rhoads is a lifelong Lea County resident with 21 years of distinguished service in the Hobbs Police Department, where he retired as a Captain and SWAT Commander. He also serves as a certified concealed carry instructor, reflecting his deep respect for the Second Amendment and responsible gun ownership.

Mark is running for Sheriff to continue the strong, principled leadership of Sheriff Helton, with a focus on community safety, rural security, and transparent service. He believes in preserving the values that make Lea County strong—faith, family, and freedom—while using modern tools and experienced leadership to face today’s challenges.

As a public servant, Mark Rhoads has led from the front. As your next Sheriff, he’s ready to serve again—firm in conviction, steady in crisis, and committed to protecting what matters most.
